Today, dubbed Black Tuesday in South Africa, a secrecy bill was passed which, if it becomes law, will allow the incarceration, for up to 25 years, of journalists or whistle blowers who make state information, including political corruption, publicly known.
I think Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu said it well, "It is insulting to all South Africans to be asked to stomach legislation that could be used to outlaw whistle-blowing and investigative journalism... and that makes the state answerable only to the State."
Protesters gathered outside Parliament wearing black in hopes that the bill would be voted against.

In September I was asked to be part of an exciting project for 36Boutique's (now known as Style36) online fashion magazine. The shoot called Bright Young Things features young designers Barbara Lotter of Babette, Oriel Barnard of Lisp and Vicky Fenner of Joya jewellery. I loved working with this all-girl team as the Behind-the-Scenes photographer.
Everyone involved in the shoot was also featured as a Bright Young Thing and 36Boutiques did a mini Q&A with each of us. Mine is here.
